This is about Luc Besson from the Official Site:
Besson's "La Femme Nikita" was the director's first global sensation, a film that inspired remakes in both the U.S. and Hong Kong. The story of a feral, drug-addicted girl forced to train as a government hit-woman made international stars of leads Anne Parrilaud and Jean Reno, and spawned a new form of thriller: the neo-noir action film. This influence still reverberates throughout world cinema.

Has anyone else seen this Movie Trailer?
What do you think?
I saw it on tv the other day... I saw Jason Statham and I got excited, cause he's been in both of Guy Ritchie's movies and I really liked his characters... It looks like it would be interesting, but I want to find out more before I give out a recommendation :D

not too shabby for a guy that used to sell gold on the street in England. :smokin:

I saw It !!!!!! :bounce:
The movie is a must see, it is just great, The end draggs alittle with hyperaction sequences, but till then, there's a lot of fun, action and very good closeups of Jason. :thud:
The fighting scenes were glorious! I love martial arts. :lol

I saw it today. OMG, I think I know who I want as my throwdown, wg. I don't know how to type the noise I was making when he took his shirt off.... and his aussie accent broke through every now and then. Improbable plot but great car chases, explosions and martial arts.
I give it two thumbs up. :aok: :aok:

he's a Brit, Dutch, born and raised, but sometimes his accent was more prominent than others. i think they were trying to supress it actually.
and i'm pretty sure red and jul and i were making those same noises today.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, 12 pack. yum. :smokin:
so on the aesthetic side, Jason is yummy to look at, especially when he's minus his shirt. his RL military backround comes thru quite nicely and lends his character the authenticity that the plot seemed to have forgotten about. ABSOLUTELY HATED the sappy score and the bizarre post-production addition of "tracer" lines to the bullets fired. what do they think this is, Star Wars? hello? bullets don't leave a trail.
the fight scenes were very nicely choreographed but way too long, despite the fact that i was happily distracted by a bare-chested Jason a few times. mmmmmm.
so yeah, the plot. i know it was in there somewhere once. there's references to it all over the place, but only if you listen real hard. some knucklehead edited the backbone of the film out, leaving only disconnected action sequences. and while i'm griping about the action sequences, where the frell did all those bad guys come from? how many times does he have to hit them to put them down? and why the frell didn't any of them have guns? hello? they're thugs?
so was it entertaining? sure, but it wasn't worth a full price ticket during prime time. Luc Besson shouldn't let somebody else direct his movies.
now, this is a man

He's Brit? Well, what do I know from accents; I plead distraction. Actually, the lack of continuity griped me all to hell. The guy is like wonder-man and he doesn't hear that girl drop the box of stuff in his lounge? He doesn't hear her going through the kitchen? He doesn't have tires that you can drive on when they get punctured? I was pretty disgusted with all of these sorts of things because they distracted me. They stood out.
But the car chases were great, nice explosions and the fight scenes were good, if overlong. Jason is yummy eye candy and the *idea* of someone living in the south of France (in a lighthouse!) running these sorts of errands for a hell of a lot of money, was intriguing..
Ok. I'll reduce my thumbs up to 1 with the caveat that anyone who goes to see it be aware of the problems. And I went to a reduced price show at 2pm. ;)
NICE PICTURE!
I'm going to rent it on pay per view! :aok:

Since the sequel to this is in post-production, what better time than now to resurrect discussion on this one? I didn't pay the full price to see this one in the theaters, which might be why I like it more than most. I fully admit the plot isn't the greatest and there are a lot of holes, but I did enjoy the fight sequences and, of course, Jason Statham himself. Mercy! I'm interested to see how Frank Martin fares in this sequel. How about you?
