Set against dramatic European backdrops, The Bourne Identity is the story of a man (Matt Damon), salvaged, near death, from the ocean by the crew of an Italian fishing boat. When he recuperates, the man suffers from total amnesisa. He is completely without identity or background…but does possess a range of extraordinary talents in fighting, linguistic skills and self-defense that speak of a dangerous past. He sets out on a desperate search—assisted by the initially rebellious Marie (Franka Potente)—to discover who he really is, and why he is being pursued by assassins.

The Bourne Identity also stars Chris Cooper (American Beauty), Clive Owen (Croupier), Brian Cox (The Boxer) and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (The Mummy Returns) and is directed by Doug Liman (Swingers, Go) and produced by Liman, Patrick Crowley and Richard N. Gladstein. The executive producer is Frank Marshall. The film’s writers are Tony Gilroy and William Blake Herron; the film is based on the book by Robert Ludlum, the third in his quartet of international thrillers featuring master spy Jason Bourne.

Read this book years ago, and it was kick ass. Surprised it took so long to bring to the screen.

It was a TV movie too, with Jaclyn Smith & Richard Chamberlin....REALLY good. Sounds like it'll make a good movie but after Richard Chamberlin, I'm not sure I can see Matt Damon in that role.

To each his own. I just think RC did a very good job. But I agree it will be interesting to see how they bring it out on the big screen. I think I'll wait for the video though. ;)

Ewww, I absolutely loathed the Richard Chamberlain version.

I love this book though, I remember devouring all of them. I think the casting of Matt Damon is absolutely fantastic and the trailer is awesome. I can't wait to see this flick.

Slight casting problem there - Clive Owen should be Jason Borne. Matt could be his brother or someone else like a CIA type. Can you tell I don't really like Matt!

RC is an awesome actor, I really didn't think I could like Matt Damon, but I saw the previews tonight for Bourne BEFORE I saw Spy Games, and I have to say........it's going to be an awesome flick if it's like the previews.

and the movie was great....Redford and Pitt both........

and I LOVED the connection, but missed one of them........(there are two supposedly)
