i had the same reaction to AROBTTH that i did with Parachutes. i instantly loved it. i heard songs that stretched in influence from the Beatles and the Who to U2 and PJ Harvey. groovy bass lines that made me think of go-go boots, vocals that were stretched, twisted, molded and resonant, lyrics that spoke of confidence and fear, loss and hope. there isn't a track on AROBTTH that i haven't listened to a dozen times in the last 24 hours.
Chris Martin's voice is amazing. it's raw, soft, tender, and rich all at once. as with Parachutes, the melodies on AROBTTH haunt me completely. and the piano on AROBTTH....man, i thought i was in love with Spies.
A Rush of Blood to the Head is those places in your mind where you hide....complicated, wistful, sad but hopeful, and strangely inspiring. uniquely Coldplay. :smokin:
