I'll be damned if I know anyone in this film except Claudia Black and the late Aaliyah. Help me out guys. Should I waste my money?

if you decide on whether or not to see a film based on who's in it, then you narrow the field of films worth watching simply because "unknowns" are in them. judge the film because the trailer looks interesting, and/or a reviewer you trust recommends the movie...or at worst, catch a matinee on the day it's released and see the movie for about 4 buck with no one in the theatre

for example...both Russell Crowe and Guy Pierce were completely unknown when LA Confidential was released...the movie went on to be nominated for several Oscars, including Best Picture for that year.

Claud's in it? Hmmmm. I knew Russell Crowe from his first US movie appearance w/ Sharon Stone in "The Quick and the Dead" that feminist spaghetti Western. I watch it almost every chance I get.

I haven't heard anything about QotD, Jos, but I'll let you know when I do.

Since this is one of my favorites, I just had to resurrect this one as I went back through old threads. So who ended up seeing this one and what did you think?

I haven't seen it, but at the Farscape con, Claudia said she's very sorry and please don't go see it :lol so, I dunno..

:lol I heard it wasn't that good, but not from such a good source. Although bad movies have a certain allure of their own...although that could be just me. :D

I've always been surprised at the negative backlash this movie got, but maybe that's because I'm biased and really like it. It played somewhat like an extended music video, though, so I could see where some people might not like it. And, of course, Anne Rice purists are probably upset at the consolidation of The Vampire Lestat and QOTD books into one movie. Still, Stuart Townsend's Lestat never fails to capture me, and I love the music and the feel of the movie overall. I'd say give it a chance sometime. You might find you like it.

Maybe I shouldn't admit it, but I thought QOTD was pretty good. When I did see it, I didn't know much of Claudia yet so now I have to see it again!

It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it!!

I know this comes late, but I have to agree with a couple of you guys. I liked QOTD. Stuart Townsend was a good looking Lestat, and I felt he played a better Lestat then Tom Cruise, but then that is my personal thought. I think it is worth taking a chance to see.

I agree. Stuart Townsend was an awesome Lestat. I was impressed with this movie, although I wasn't sure I'd like it. One of the things I loved about it was the actors' chemistry.

You're right cisco, the chemistry was good especially with Townsend. When League of Extraordinay Men came out, I loved how his chemistry with Peta was great there too....especially when they did that fighting scene.

I enjoyed the movie but if you've read the book be prepared for some major differences!!

Oh Yes! I have to agree with you LB the book is defininately not like the movie at all. But then, most movies converted from books tend to also go "Hollywood". :pop:

Would you believe that I still have to read the book? I've had the Vampire Chronicles books for years but only really made it through the first few before RL took over. I can't wait to see the differences between the book and the movie. That's part of why I always like to see a movie before a book. Your imagination when reading a book can take you to so many places that can't be recreated on screen.

For you Stuart Townsend fans, are you planning on checking him out in his new TV series, The Night Stalker?
